The Outer Banks is a grouping of peninsulas and islands, sometimes referred to as the Graveyard of the Atlantic, due to its tropical hurricanes, countless shipwrecks, and historic pirate exploits. It’s from this tumultuous past that H2OBX Waterpark, located in Powells Point, NC, finds its inspiration.

Dreamers can imagine sailing the seven seas as they play on the pirate-themed RainFortress; squirting and splashing fellow buccaneers with water features such as geysers, water cannons, troughs, and tipping cones while they try to escape with treasure. Just as they think they’re about to be captured, they can slide down one of the RainFortress’s seven water slides to get away with the loot! The water slide fun doesn’t stop with the RainFortress, H2OBX has nine water slides. On the family adventure tower, riders find themselves racing down the steep drop of a Boomerango, before sliding up the near vertical wall. This exciting slide complex also features a WhiteWater classic, the Family Raft Ride, christened “Queen Anne’s Revenge”, after the ship of Edward Teach, a pirate who once sailed the Atlantic.

A Freefall slide mimics walking the plank as the floor drops out from under guests sending them into a 27-meter (90-feet) descent. Additionally, there is a Super Bowl where thrill-seekers enter an AquaLucent enclosed flume featuring vibrant colors, before being launched into a large bowl for several rotations. This thrill complex also includes exciting favorites such as a Flatline Loop, two Accelerator slides, an Inner Tube Boomerango, and Constrictor slides.

H2OBX doesn’t just have eye-catching slides, when the Outer Banks’ surf is flat, come shred on the FlowRider® Double. This never-ending stationary wave provides plenty of breakers even when the Atlantic is not producing waves. Flowboarders can show off their skills while family and friends watch from the sidelines, providing entertainment for everyone.

"The first season of the H2OBX Waterpark was successful enough that developers plan on adding rides and foresee shops, restaurants and a hotel coming to nearby properties. A survey showed 90 percent of customers were satisfied [with the water park] and that H20BX have achieved scores that Camelbeach, [the city’s] northern water park, has yet to achieve after over 20 seasons."
